Now with colour screen, mapping support, 24MB of internal memory, and a brand new ultra-sensitive GPS receiver for better reception in forest-timber, canyons and other difficult areas. 

The Summit HC has the addition of an electronic compass, which points to North even when not moving. It also comes with a barometric altimiter - measure elevations, to an accuracy of a few metres, and decide on heads of water. Envisage property land form, or dam design, with the elevation profile on any track. For recreation or aviation, work out rates of climb and descent, and read the elevation history profile. 

Like the rest of the units in the eTrex series, the Summit HC is a lightweight and compact GPS. A great choice for hiking, bush walking, or international travel. The Summit HC features a new generation ultra-sensitive GPS chip, 14 hour battery life, and USB interface. You can load portions of detailed marine mapping, street mapping, or contour mapping onto the 24MB of internal memory. Other important features include pan/zoom map page, 500 waypoint storage, tracbak feature and computer connectivity via USB. For farming, agriculture, agronomy, aquaculture and related endeavours, the eTrex Summit HCmeasures distances and directions between points, and area measurements. 

The eTrex Summit HC has area measurement functions, making it equally useful for farmers, loss adjusters, land-owners, agricultural consultants, and aquaculturalists. Area measurement is simple and fast. Just walk, drive or ride around the perimeter to be measured, press a button, and there you have it.
